The fryer oil conversion is still going well and no difference in engine performance so all is well - we can get the oil down to 0c with out any problems - how?
We now have a centrifuge to filter our oil to a very high standard - in fact we can take out the shortening out of the used oil to make a better flowing oil, and we are getting more participation from our local restaurant community - will keep you posted!

For those of you wondering what I have been up to these last few weeks, well, I am converting my 200 Tdi Disco to fryer oil!
So far the results are very promising - mileage is super - I can easy get 950 km out of a tank, and cruising at 120 km/hr is great - hardly any engine noise, and I have recently started to use the Smartveg system to control the valves needed in a twin tank system. A lot of thought has gone into this controller making it easy to switch from diesel to veg.
I am using old cooker oil that is well filtered and pre heated - don't know why I didn't use this years ago!
I would have gone biodiesel, but in town it is more expensive than regular diesel, and for us to make homebrew - even I thought it a little too hazardous considering I live above the shop!
Anyway, for the technical bits - I average at least 35mpg easy not bad for 2200kg car!
A tank full of oil is approx $10 if that
Power - down about 7 - 10%
Range - best could do on diesel was 750 km / tank - now 950 km on a long run - I recently got 1158 km from a tank but I think that was because the purge diesel got in the tank in larger quantities due to testing
So I have done a lot of work and trying to get this system to run at least 3 seasons - I have made a heated tank, fuel filter, fuel line and pre injection heater all for very little cost
I will keep you posted on the results - If I get any feedback I will post pics
